Some of our programs include:

 

PROJECT LEARN

An educational enhancement program that combines homework help and educational activities daily during the school year. This increases member motivation to learn, improves grades and provides them with a better opportunity to graduate from high school and attend post-secondary institutions.

 

POWER HOUR

A daily program designed to help members of all ages be more successful in school by providing homework help and tutoring while encouraging members to become self-directed learners.

 

DRAGONFLY QUEST

Members learn to conduct their own investigations using the scientific method. Members learn how to make observations, ask questions, make predictions, create action plans, collect data and share results.

 

FINE ARTS

Programs that encourage artistic expression through drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, mixed media and sculpture.

 

SMART GIRLS

A health, fitness prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement program designed to meet the developmental needs of girls ages 8-12. Through dynamic sessions, highly participatory activities, field trips and mentoring opportunities with adult women, Club girls explore their own societal attitudes and values as they build skills for eating right, staying physically fit, getting good health care and developing positive relationships with peers and adults.

READ DOG

A partnership with Intermountain Therapy Animals that provides a trainer and dog volunteers for R.E.A.D. (Reading Education Assistant Dogs). This program improves children’s reading and communication skills.

 

CLAYMATION

Members in the tech lab work in groups to create Claymation movies. They write scripts, make backgrounds and create characters out of clay. Using stop motion animation they take a series of photos and create short films.

 

DANCE PROGRAM, DANCE CAMPS

Enables members to participate in Dance programs. They perform in the Kenosha Community on a regular basis.

 

BGC IDOL

A talent show in which members dance, read poetry and sing for family members and friends.

 

Some other exciting things that the Youth of Kenosha can do in our new Youth Center are:

 

TRIPLE PLAY

Empowering youth to eat right as a generation-changing, life enhancing program goal and Triple Play’s nutrition component called Healthy Habits, covers the power of choice, calories, vitamins and minerals, the food pyramid and appropriate portion size.

 

SPORTS FANATICS

This program exposes members to a wide variety of sports from basketball to soccer to flag football to baseball and many others.

SKILL TECH I

A program in which members can learn the basics of a computer from the keyboard to disc drives to using Microsoft Word.

 

SKILL TECH II

Focuses on developing specific, age appropriate technology skills with an emphasis on computer hardware, networking and the internet. It teaches advanced yet practical computer skills to Club members ages 6 to 18.

 

GAME MASTERS

This program is head to head computer games where members ages 9 to 17 challenge each other to a game.

 

NEWSCASTERS

Members will learn the basics of news reporting, writing and will put together their own Club Newsletter quarterly.

 

IMAGE MAKERS

Members ages 11-18 will learn how to use a digital camera, 35mm camera and disposable cameras for the purposes of creating planned photos.

 

MOVIE TECH

Members ages 11-18 will learn all the aspects about writing a screenplay and creating their own movies using many features of video productions with a digital camcorder.

 

NET SMARTZ I & II

Members use the internet to find information using a guided worksheet or topic to teach Internet safety and the dos and donts of surfing the net.
