Packers, Bears Send Inspiring Messages And Gifts To BGCK
The continued trauma, divisiveness and violence present in 2020 leaves an indelible mark on young people. Both the Bears and the Packers recognize this, saw the need for support and stepped in immediately with the goal of bringing some joy to kids in Kenosha. On Thursday, October 8th, Club members each received a Bears hat and bobblehead after watching a custom video of well wishes from over a dozen Bears players.
In his message to Club kids, Bears Defensive Lineman Akiem Hicks said, “A lot of love coming from this side. We want to make sure that you’re doing the things you can in order to be successful. During these trying times with COVID and all of the other things going on, make sure that you are taking care of you school work, taking care of your family and staying focused. We support you. We love you. Take care.”
Tomorrow, October 13th at 4:30pm, the Packers are sending a robot to the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha, with the face of the robot being a live stream video of starting tackle, Billy Turner. He will speak to the kids about perseverance and working hard towards their goals. The Packers and Turner will also be providing art supplies for members to create their own masterpieces. The kids’ artwork will eventually be featured on clothing that Turner will gift to his teammates for the holidays.
“With everything going on in the world today, we know how challenging it can be for kids in our community, and we need to continue to encourage and support young people and give them opportunities to succeed,” said Turner. “Even though I can’t visit with the kids in person, I’m looking forward to connecting with them and sharing the love and positivity from our whole football team.”
