Kleutsch Family Named 2018 BGC Sports Family of the Year

Family Will Be Recognized February 23rd at the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha

Kenosha, WI – February 13, 2019 – For Dan and Kristi Kleutsch’s family, sport is in the blood. The family’s involvement with BGC Sports began in the CYC days; Dan played baseball and Kristi’s brother played basketball. The Kleutschs have been involved ever since.

The three Kleutsch kids all started playing BGC Sports at age five with the K Ballers basketball program and t-ball. Daniel (age 12) played football for three years, baseball for four years and basketball for three years. Grace (age 10) has played basketball and softball for five years. Jacob (age 7) has played basketball and baseball for two years thus far.

Dan has coached his kids’ basketball and baseball teams for over seven years, with Kristi by his side assisting.

“I coach because there is no other feeling quite like helping young athletes further develop their discipline, determination, resilience to failure, work ethic, leadership skills and respect for others, not only in sports but in life,” said Dan Kleutsch.

“Coaches are role models that provide structure for a player,” said Kristi Schaeffer-Kleutsch. “Their job is to nurture, encourage growth and emphasize sportsmanship. The focus on teamwork is something kids need to learn, exercise and apply. It’s a skill that applies for a lifetime.”

The camaraderie and relationships formed through the years has made their family’s experience with BGC Sports great. “It’s a beautiful thing to witness families come together and expect our student athletes to demonstrate good sportsmanship, grow and improve,” said Kleutsch.

The Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha will recognize the Kleutsch family for their dedication and service to the Club, as the 2018 Sports Family of the Year in a short awards presentation on February 23rd at the BGCK.
