Kenosha, WI – October 21, 2019 – On Friday, October 11th, Carmen Gordon and her family distributed over 200 backpacks filled with hats, gloves and school supplies to youth and teen members at the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha, thanks to long distance support from her son, Melvin Gordon III.
The Gordon family has supported the Club for several years, dating back to when Melvin was a member himself. He played basketball at the Club and later coached youth football for CYC Sports (later BGC Sports). He often visits the BGCK during his time spent in Kenosha to hang out with youth members and offer words of encouragement.
“The middle of the school year is an essential time for our youth to receive additional school supplies and gear for the cold and we are so thankful to Melvin and his family for their continued support,” said BGCK CEO, Jake McGhee. “Not everyone who makes it big chooses to give back, and the Gordon family continues to make giving back a top priority.”
Not only are the Gordon’s passionate about the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha’s mission, but the family supports many non-profits, both in Kenosha and in Los Angeles. He recently started “Melvin Gordon’s Beyond the Flash Foundation” which focuses on providing economically challenged students with educational opportunities and resources to succeed, and provides support for inner city youth who struggle with hunger.
The Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha is a youth guidance organization dedicated to promoting health, social, educational, vocational, cultural, character and leadership development.
