Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha to Build Playground Thanks to Niagara Bottling
Commemorative Bricks For Sale Now
Kenosha, WI – March 10, 2020 – Members at the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha will have a new outdoor playground this summer, thanks to Niagara Cares, Niagara Bottling’s philanthropic program. The park will be recognized as “Niagara Imagination Station.” Commemorative bricks are for sale now and will be placed along a walkway leading up to the playground.
The playground will be built on the grassy lot on the north side of the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha’s 52nd Street building. It will feature three slides, swings, a jungle gym, a spinner, picnic tables with shade, monkey bars, a balance walk and more. The playground will be open to the public, available for families in the neighborhood to use.
Club members will get to vote on a final piece to be included in the playground at an assembly on Wednesday, March 11th at 4pm at the BGCK. Media, board members and community stakeholders are welcome to attend.
“I’m super excited to have a playground at the Boys & Girls Club, because where we get to play outside now is not as fun,” said 3rd grade youth member, Nevaeh Watson of Grant Elementary. She is most excited for the monkey bars and swings.
“We’re thrilled to make an impact in the community and help bring smiles to the faces of children in the community”, said Kristen Venick, Director of Niagara Cares. “Our employees love that they get to be involved in the effort and can give back to such a deserving organization.”
Niagara Bottling employees from the Pleasant Prairie plant helped to name the playground and will volunteer throughout the build.
“A safe outdoor play space was the single biggest need for the Club, since attendance skyrocketed over the last few years and the indoor space had become full,” said BGCK CEO, Jake McGhee. “We are so grateful to Niagara for helping to make this happen. Summers at the BGCK just got more exciting!”
Bricks are for sale now at donationbricks.com/bgck and are $100. Funds from brick sales will go towards the playground project, allowing members more space and more time to get exercise.
A grand opening celebration including a ribbon cutting will take place early summer, when the kids are able to use the playground for the first time.
