Summer programs will run Monday through Friday from June 14 – August 20 (closed July 5). The Troha Youth and Tween Centers for kids ages 6 – 12 will offer AM Adventure from 7am – 12pm. AM Adventure includes breakfast and requires an additional fee of $16 per day or $60 per week, per child. Youth and Tween Center open membership hours will be from 12 – 4:45pm. Teen Center hours will be from 12 – 5pm. Lunch will be served daily from 12 – 1:30pm.
Troha Youth Center staff are planning several fun field trips like visiting the Milwaukee Zoo, the Shedd Aquarium, going bowling and skating. On site, youth will enjoy a Juneteenth Day festival, the new Niagara Imagination Station playground and fun enrichment programs.
This summer the Teen Center will be welcoming a guest speaker from High Power Rocketry. He will not only talk about rocketry, but will also bring in small rockets that students will be able to put together and fly outside, weather permitting. Teen members may also visit Boundless Adventures, go fishing in Winthrop Harbor, attend a college and career fair and more.
The BGCK and Kenosha County’s Summer Youth Employment Program will run again for the 13th consecutive year. Young individuals work with local businesses and/or local technical schools to develop job skills that enable them to have better opportunities in the future. Since its inception the program has helped decrease summertime juvenile arrests by 92%. This is a referral based program as youth must be referred by KUSD staff or community agencies.
