Kenosha, WI – November 14, 2019 – Despite heavy rain in the days leading up to the event, over 100 golfers attended the 7th Annual Friends of Dave Barnes Golf Outing at Bristol Oaks Golf Club in October, in memory of the late Dave Barnes. Over $20,000 was raised for the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha. Barnes was a former BGCK Board President, long-time Club supporter and mentor to the members.
Friends, family and many local businesses are invited to participate each year by golfing, donating raffle prizes or sponsoring a hole. Not only did the 2019 event draw over 100 golfers, but it was also supported with over 30 hole sponsors and several dozen raffle prizes.
“This Club was so important to Dave, he loved these kids,” said Dave’s wife, Michelle Barnes (owner of several Cost Cutters and SuperCuts salons and long-time Boys & Girls Club supporter). “He would be so happy to see everyone gather from near and far to support the Club.”
“It’s great to see Dave’s legacy live on and have this event grow each and every year,” said BGCK CEO, Jake McGhee. “The event has drawn in well over six figures of donations to the Club and Dave would be proud.”
