The Youth Empowerment Department engages youth in positive activities during the hours that they are most likely to be involved in the negative lures of their communities. The program is designed to help youth build self-esteem, enhance communication with family members, manage anger and violent expression, enhance decision making skills, become independent thinkers and create positive relationships with others.
Our programs promote safety by empowering youth to make positive choices about their education, recreational activities and personal actions. Our targeted outreach program offers a wide array of programs for those youth who are most at-risk, targeting youth who have already been involved in the juvenile justice system, children whose older siblings have been involved in the juvenile justice system, children who have little or no parental/family support and children who have dropped out or are at risk of dropping out of school.
