BGC Sports Announces New Football Feeder Program for 2017

BGC Sports Announces New Football Feeder Program for 2017

Travel League Launched for all BGC Sports Tackle Football Programs (SEYFA- South East Youth Football Alliance)

The 2017 football season may be months away, but BGC Sports is excited to unveil its football plans for the upcoming year. New in 2017, BGC Sports has partnered with KUSD to feature a youth feeder program for Bradford, Tremper and Indian Trail High Schools for participants in 1st-4th grade. Additionally, all BGC Sports programs will transition to a travel football league- SEYFA – South East Youth Football Alliance) format, improving competition and competing against teams outside of the community.

As part of the 2017 BGC Sports Youth Football Feeder season, BGC Sports football participants in 1st-4th grade will be placed on rosters geographically and will play for the Jr. Red Devils (Bradford), Jr. Trojans (Tremper), or Jr. Hawks (Indian Trail). In addition to learning the culture of each High School program and working with High School mentors, participants will receive an official High School Feeder Team Uniform and Team T-Shirt (Helmet and Shoulder Pads excluded), will play select home games at the High School stadiums and will be recognized through various High School Game night experiences. The future of youth football in Kenosha is bright and learning the cultures and fundamentals from the High Schools will undoubtedly improve the quality of football in our community.  Each program will start to form their brand from day one, with the hopes of the players being in their program through high school.

As it relates to the 5th-8th grade participants, the new divisions will be separated by single grade and all divisions will be based on the child’s grade for the 2017-2018 school year.

The 5th-8th grade divisions will play in the travel league (SEYFA) but will not be following the feeder program format in 2017. All teams will be divided via the draft as in the previous years. Players may return to play with their coach from last year if they choose. Players may make requests for specific teams or coaches but these requests are not guaranteed to be fulfilled. All teams in the 5th-8th grade will also receive new and improved Team Uniforms and a Feeder Team T-shirt of their choice. The 5th-8th grade division will transition into the Feeder program grade-by-grade progressively each year.

To kick off the 2017 football season, BGC Sports will host the first annual Rhodes to Success Speed & Agility Football Camp, featuring former NFL Star and Super Bowl XLI MVP, Dominic Rhodes. The camp will take place on Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30 at CYC Park in Kenosha (6201 67th Street) and open to players age 8-18. The cost to register is $60 and participants may register at www.bgcsports.org or may visit the Boys & Girls Club to sign up.

Registration for both the BGC Sports Football Youth Feeder Program and BGC Sports Senior Football League will open on Monday, March 13th, 2017. The cost to register is $150 and includes the game uniform (jersey, pants, socks, and helmet decals), T-shirt and all other league dues. Participants may register online at www.bgcsports.org  or at the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha, located at 1330 52nd Street. For more information, please contact Steve Milkie at smilkie@bgckenosha.org.
